The 26-year old Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik with 34 wins (30 KO), 0 lost from Youngstown, Ohio moved up to light heavyweight division to fight the experienced and legendary 43-year old Bernard Hopkins (48 wins
(32 KO), 5 loses) at the Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Pavlik just came up the WBC and the WBO middleweight champion when he TKO'd Gary Lockett in the 3rd round of their scheduled 12-round bout that was held on June 7, 2008 at the Boardwalk Hall. Bernard Hopkins' last fight was a lost to Joe Calzaghe last April 19, 2008 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on a 12-round split decision.
The fight is promoted by Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions, in association with Caesars Atlantic City and will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View, beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
